Starting Week 56 with Nutrisystem

I've been reminding myself of the many things I've learned in the last year on my Nutrisystem journey and thought I'd share a few. When your struggle with weight loss seems all uphill, remember how far you've come, celebrate all of your victories, no matter how small. Drink water, and lots of it. Read, listen to, and watch things, people, books, websites, podcasts, shows that inspire you. Stop putting yourself down. Eat lots of non-starchy veggies. Stick to the plan, eating every 3 hours, 6x a day. Keep a food journal or log your food on Numi. Take time to enjoy each meal, eat slowly. If you hit a stumbling block, switch things up a bit, even a small change like swapping dinner for lunch can have a big impact. Find a way to reduce stress, seek out the simple pleasures. 

I caught myself about to put myself down the other day when someone said "You look great". I quickly replied "You haven't seen me in a bathing suit and then stopped myself and said, "I'm not going to put myself down, last year was spent losing the weight, this year will be spent on toning".  It takes a lot of time to undo bad habits, or change your mindset, and the journey doesn't end when you near or even reach your goal. Just when you think you have it figured out, there's always something new to learn. Embrace the lessons.

The scale has been a bit of a roller coaster since the accident. Last week I tried several things to reduce some of the resulting stress that I felt had been contributing to my recent weight gain. Some of the smaller steps were adding an aromatherapy diffuser in my bedroom and spending time in the pool, hot tub, and sauna. I also intentionally skipped the apple cider vinegar I had recently started taking for inflammation from the accident. It's a histamine trigger and for those, like me, with a histamine intolerance, highly reactive foods can cause weight gain. The combination seemed to work ~ I lost 3 lbs. for the week which is the most I've lost since the first week on Nutrisystem. Hopefully, the roller coaster ride is over and I'm back on track. We'll find out next week. ☺

Starting Week 55 with Nutrisystem

Well, if I've learned anything in the last few weeks it's that you cannot lose weight if you are stressed...at least I can't. I gained 2.2 lbs. this week. It doesn't have anything to do with the plan, I haven't changed my menu, it's all due to my stress level and inflammation.

Soooo, relaxation is at the top of my to do list this week. In between doctor's appointments, my calendar is filled with a visit to the pool, hot tub, sauna and our little bay beach, pictured above. The accident caused me enough pain, anxiety and trauma; allowing it derail my weight loss any further is only adding to my stress.

On a happier note, the weather is getting warmer, the trees and flowers are blooming, and soon everyone will be firing up their barbeques for summer-time get-togethers. As I was enjoying a Nutrisystem Meatloaf Sandwich with charbroiled onions and sweet red peppers with a side salad of baby radicchio salad, I was thinking it's perfect to pop on the grill when you want to skip all the calories of a hot dog, hamburger and potato salad, yet not feel deprived. 

Weighed in at 138 lbs. this morning. Total 54-week weight loss after this week's gain is 42 lbs.
