Spent last week trying to recover from being hit by a car so I didn't get much accomplished. In fact, I stayed in bed the first part of the week knocked out from the meds and the second half exhausted from not being able to fall asleep. Seeing a car come towards you knowing it's not going to stop before hitting you does a number on your psyche, in more ways than one. I did muster up the courage to drive to the supermarket by myself...that was a big step. This week I will drive to my doctor's office in the next town. I'm finding, for me, recovering from an accident is the same as managing a food addiction....baby steps work best for me. I found myself eating a bit more almost every day last week, more due to stress than being hungry. Finding out the person who hit me presented an insurance policy that had been cancelled months ago didn't help, but I need to find another way to deal with stress than eating. I have to focus on the positive and not let another's carelessness sabotoge the results I worked hard to achieve over the last 50 weeks. Sounds good, now if only I would take my own advice!
I've been relying on The Leaf more and more. I visited the site and searched for Stress Eating and sure enough found an article entitled How to Stop Stress Eating filled with tips like deep breathing, focusing on long-term goals, and logging every meal and snack to help identify stress-eating triggers. The article touched on how I always feel after eating a calorie-filled flex meal or snack ..."Eating carbohydrates that are packed with fat or sugar releases brain chemicals that leave us feeling good. But here’s the kicker: After you work your way through that sleeve of cookies or tub of ice cream, the guilt of doing so may leave you feeling worse." Yep!!
I lost .4 lbs. last week which brings my 50-week total to 45.4 lbs.
Special thanks to Ryan from Nutrisystem who took the time out of his busy day to email and call me to send wishes for a speedy recovery. Reason #579 why I LOVE Nutrisystem!!
