Starting Week 35 with Nutrisystem

Me oh my, dieting during the holidays takes a lot of willpower...and planning. All things considered, I think I did pretty well. I volunteered at a local Church to help serve dinner to the community which made it easy to avoid all my usual snacking before Thanksgiving dinner. We had so much food left over, I could have had dinner for a week, but I passed on taking a plate {or three} home and skipped the dessert table entirely, both of which are HUGE accomplishments for me. Even so, it was a lot more food than I have been eating in one sitting. I thought about saving half for Friday, but wanted to get back on Nutrisystem right away so figured that wasn't a good idea. I weighed in Thursday morning and by Friday had gained 2 lbs. Even worse, I felt completely wiped out. It reminded me how I used to feel every morning when I woke up...tired and sad. I'm convinced food, and more specifically food intolerances, are at the root of nearly every ailment and illness, at least they seem to be for me. I don't think we should skip enjoying our favorite traditional dishes on holidays, but everything in moderation really does seem to be the key. I know this but still not completely "there" yet. 

Moving on and happy to be back on the plan. I'm looking forward to indulging in some healthier options like these Dijon Glazed Brussel Sprouts, in the video recipe above, found on The Leaf.

Starting Week 34 with Nutrisystem

I received the sweetest email from Nutrisystem a few weeks ago. The NSNation team wants to see me reach my 50-lb. weight loss goal and have invited me to continue my journey with them into 2017!! For me it's been a match made in heaven and I couldn't be happier to continue this adventure. 

When I started this journey way back in April, I wasn't thinking about what it would be like to be dieting during the holidays. Now that they're upon us, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't scared. Obviously, I don't want to blow all that I've worked for, but let's face it, we all tend to eat more at this time of year.  I've been reading The Leaf  for tips on how to avoid gobbling up everything on the dinner table. Starting Week 33 with Nutrisystem

Before I started this journey, the NSNation team asked me how much weight I wanted to lose. I told them 50 lbs. and on the day I started the program kept repeating {like Marie in the commercial} "I'm Barbara and I lost 50 lbs. on Nutrisystem!". ☺ Truth be told, though, I really didn't believe that was possible...until now. As I near the 40-lb. mark, suddenly another 10 doesn't seem so far out of reach. It got me thinking, did I put off trying to diet because losing 50 lbs. seemed insurmountable? Probably. My advice to anyone who is struggling to lose weight, try tiny steps. Maybe make a goal of losing 10 lbs. You can always repeat the goal until you get to where you want to be. And, if you're on Nutrisystem, these cute little guys will be waiting to cheer you on at every milestone ~

I'm looking forward to welcoming #40 to the party very soon...and then #50 and Goal Bear! #iBelieve!!! Another tip for anyone starting a weight-loss journey is to keep a journal with before and after pictures. Being able to look back and read about how far you've come in your own words is a great motivator. Also, definitely take your starting measurements which is something I regret not doing.
