Starting Week 22 on Nutrisystem

In the past 21 weeks I've been asked the same question more times than I can count ~ "Do you like Nutrisystem?". My response has been the same since the first week ~ "No...I LOVE it!" Never having tried Nutrisystem before, I wasn't sure if I would like the food or if my allergies would allow me to stick with it, but I quickly found their plan is a perfect fit for me and vice versa. I'm cooking challenged, never seemed to have the right ingredients on hand when I do attempt to whip something up and rather than go shopping, I would opt for fast food instead. Since many friends, neighbors, and even acquaintances have mentioned they intend to give Nutrisystem a try, I thought it was a good time to share a bit about my favorites to help with the first order ~

♥ Cinnamon Roll ~ OMG!! This is a worthy rival of the cinnamon rolls found at the mall for about 700 calories less. ooey, gooey goodie!! Breakfast entree, ships frozen, heats in microwave for 30 seconds.

♥ Grilled Chicken Sandwich ~ My #1 fave lunch. I usually cut the chicken into pieces and combine with a salad. I also cut a string cheese in two and melt it on the roll. Lunch entree, ships frozen and heats in the microwave in 2 minutes.

♥ Whole Wheat Ricotta Crepes ~ I would happily choose this for dinner even if not trying to lose weight. The red pepper sauce is fantastic. Ships frozen and heats to perfection in 6.5 minutes in the microwave.

♥ Ice Cream Sandwich ~ If you ever had an "Ice Cream Saucer" as a kid, this frozen snack tastes just like it. It's been my favorite dessert during these hot summer months.

♥ Honey Wheat Bagel ~ I never thought a shelf stable bagel could be so good. I toast this for breakfast in the toaster oven and top with nonfat veggie cream cheese.

♥ Broccoli & Cheese Melt ~ Fantastic lunch, ships frozen, heats in microwave in just under 2 minutes.

♥ Chicken Parmesan ~ White meat patty with a side of spaghetti. Dinner entree, ships frozen and heats in microwave in 6 minutes.

♥ Honey Mustard Pretzel Bites ~ It's a good thing these yummy snack bites are in individual packages or I wouldn't stop eating them.

♥ Granola ~ Delicious, healthy breakfast that is great at home, work or to take along when traveling.

♥ Steak & Cheese Melt ~ I love most all of the melts and this one is at the top of my list. Ships frozen and heats in microwave in 2 minutes.

♥ Broccoli & Cheese Stuffed Chicken Breast ~ I heat this frozen entree in the toaster oven until golden brown and add a side of veggies.

♥ Cinnamon Bun Bar ~ Another fave on-the-go breakfast

♥ Mac & Cheese ~ This is a convenient shelf stable lunch that can be prepared in the microwave, great for lunch at home or the office.

♥ Turkey Medallions with Mashed Potatoes ~ Delicious comfort food, ships frozen, heats in microwave in 5 minutes.

♥ Barbeque Snack-A-Rounds ~ Made with quinoa and flax seeds, these taste EXACTLY like barbeque potato chips.

I could go on and on, but this would be the longest post in history. Overall, I lean more towards the frozen foods which are in the Uniquely Yours Plan. I do include several shelf stable entrees which are handy for travel. New items are added occasionally and there is enough variety and delicious choices that you will never be bored. Sort of amazing how one can lose weight and still have ice cream, mac 'n cheese, and bagels, isn't it?

It's true, though, you can! I enjoyed all of the above last week and still lost .2 lbs for a 21-week total of 26.8 lbs. Not my greatest week as far as weight loss goes, but hopefully it's because I'm building muscle with all the exercising I'm doing. Going to try a few tweaks next week and reach out to my Nutrisystem Counselor for suggestions on how to give my metabolism a boost ... stay tuned! ☺

    Starting Week 21 on Nutrisystem

I'm starting my last month blogging for Nutrisystem...wah!!! Going to miss it so much. This past week was a busy one and included a trip to NY and NJ, a visit with family, a fun day at Jones Beach on Long Island, sightseeing on the ferry, and a delicious dinner at an Italian restaurant. Since the trip was unexpected, I didn't have much time to plan meals, but thankfully had enough Nutrisystem on hand that I didn't have to worry. Since I was only able to get in a couple of hours of exercise and always retain extra fluid when traveling, I was certain I would return home with a 5-lb. weight gain. For the first time since I've started this journey, I was mindful about it but didn't obsess over the scale. I think that's a good thing! Also got to see a beautiful old tall ship that was docked at the Cape May-Lewes ferry and enjoyed a Nutrisystem breakfast at the beach ~

I realized while walking through the grocery store yesterday, I now mainly shop the perimeter of the store. I noticed some yummy-looking desserts on my way to the register and didn't have my usual longing for them. It's taken me a while, but I'm starting to break my old habits and retrain my brain. As long as I keep the weight off once I reach my goal, I'm okay with slow and steady.

Weighed in at 153.4 which is a 1-lb. loss for the week and a 20-week total of 26.6 lbs. I'm encouraged to see the scale continue to move in the right direction each week. Still have a long way to go, but I can do this! Thank you, Nutrisystem!! xox

    Starting Week 20 on Nutrisystem

This week started off with an uplifting encounter. A teller at my bank who I hadn't seen in a few months said to me "I want to do whatever it is you're doing". I've had success mentoring others in business, but never have I inspired anyone where my weight is concerned. I wonder if she knows how much her comment inspired me? This is becoming about more than just weight loss. It's as though I'm seeing everything through different eyes. I needed to switch my focus to something healthier and more positive and I'm thankful I found that with Nutrisystem.

I still love food and always will, but I now find myself researching things like how many calories different exercises burn. Never saw that coming! This article on The Leaf explains it would take nearly 4 hours of biking 22 miles to work off my former go-to meal {cheeseburger, fries and a coke}. Holy cow, what an eye-opener! When you look at food from that perspective, it's just not worth the momentary satisfaction.

That realization was put to the test as the week went on. A friend who was just 41-years old was killed in a car accident Monday night, a friend of 40 years who always treated me like a daughter passed away Saturday night as did another friend's Dad. Heaven sure has been busy this week! I have always comforted myself with food. I've learned during these past few months though, for me, that only leads to more sadness. I stuck to the plan and tried my best to work off some of the sadness and frustration by jogging in the pool for 10 hours this week.

Most days I burned more calories than I consumed, but I guess the stress didn't help. Still, I ended the week with a .8 lb. weight loss for a 19-week total of 25.6 lbs. I'm thankful to Nutrisystem for helping me become healthier, stronger, and for giving me the tools to not give up when life throws a punch...or two...or three. Wishing everyone better days and suggesting we all go hug someone we love.
