Starting Week 9 on Nutrisystem
As I start my last month on Nutrisystem, I can say without hesitation I love this plan. I've been collecting healthy, low-cal recipes to try and thought I'd share a couple that I think you will enjoy for summer get-togethers. You can find many more on Nutrisystem's blog, The Leaf. This Pineapple Whip sounds like a yummy, thirst-quenching treat for hot summer days ~
Or how about this dreamy Orange Berry Dreamsicle? ~
Ingredients:
½ cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1 packet Shake360: Vanilla Berry
½ cup orange juice
½ tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. orange zest
1 medium frozen banana
¼ cup ice

While everyone is firing up the grill this weekend, I'm happy to have a low-cal option which happens to be my fave pick for the week. It's the Grilled Chicken Sandwich which has a hint of garlic flavor and is just 200 calories. Of course, you can add lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, grilled peppers, etc., but it's so delicious, I usually don't add any extras. It's shipped frozen, bun included, and heats in the microwave in under 2 minutes.
The scale was up again most of the week but thankfully my Nutrisystem order arrived on Friday so I was able to include a Turbo Shake on the remaining days. They are filled with vitamins and probiotics to help with digestion and bust belly fat, and they taste great. I'm counting on them busting some of these stubborn lbs. too, here goes ~
Down .6 lbs. for a 8 week total of 15 lbs. Not my greatest week as far as weight lost, but I consider it a victory since the holiday weekend was filled with parties and delicious-looking temptations. Getting into the habit of thinking about what I'm eating before reaching for an unhealthy choice takes time. Although I haven't strayed from the plan, I'm not confident I would be ready to make the right choices without Nutrisystem. Thankfully, I have another 4 weeks of learning to develop healthier habits.

Nutrisystem ~ Starting Week 8
Time flies when you're having fun! This program is so convenient and offers so many different food choices, I'm sorry I didn't try it years ago. I felt a little better this week; ditching the add-on veggies that are high histamine triggers seemed to do the trick.
This week's fave food is the Nutrisystem Ice Cream Sandwich. It tastes EXACTLY like a Flying Saucer Ice Cream Sandwich and is far less calories {130 vs. 220}. It's not only delicious, but a fun reminder that summer is just around the corner. Speaking of summer, here's a tasty thirst-quenching recipe for lo-cal lemonade from Nutrisystem.

Nutrisystem Starting Week 7
This week included two separate overnight trips for me. Although I packed my Nutrisystem meals, I felt my system was off the entire week. It was clear I was retaining too much water from my swollen stomach and feet. I narrowed it down to three things I did differently ~ using sugary flavored creamers in my coffee at the hotel, not drinking enough water, and eating mushrooms and spinach which are high histamine triggers. If you're histamine intolerant, consuming even healthy foods can impede weight loss if they raise histamine levels too high.
I'm learning, albeit slowly, that a huge part of weight management is planning, and taking a moment to think before quickly grabbing something that might not be the healthiest choice because even the small extras add up. Rather than beat myself up over it, I substituted the Vanilla Turbo Shakes for the morning snack on the remaining days. These mixes are filled with vitamins, fiber, protein and probiotics. I mix the powder in the blender with water and crushed ice for a frosty treat.
This week's fave food pick is the Smoky BBQ Snack-A-Rounds. Love LoVe LOVE these multigrain chips made with quinoa and flax seeds that taste exactly like BBQ Potato Chips. There's about 20 chips in a single-serving bag which is 140 calories.
Although this was an off week for me and I was up nearly a pound on one of the days I peeked at the scale, I managed to squeak by a loss of .2 lbs. Considering I wasn't feeling great all week, I'll take it and hopefully have better results to report next week after making a few tweaks.
