Opalima Beauty Review and Giveaway

Achese King, owner and founder of Opalima Beauty sent us an assortment of the company's handcrafted mineral makeup to review. Achese, an esthetician turned entrepreneur, created the company to provide women with all-natural cosmetics that are fun to wear, provide excellent coverage and most importantly, are healthy for the skin. I have always admired women entrepreneurs particularly ones that have the courage and determination to create a niche in a competitive market. Add in the fact that the products are handcrafted using only natural ingredients, and I am in awe. 

The colors are created for women of all skin tones. The website includes helpful application tips. The company offers a fun and free sampling program. Each product is also available in a sample size for purchase. I can't tell you how many lipsticks I have bought which have turned out to be the wrong color. I love that Opalima offers sample sizes of all its products.

We received several eye shadows from the House of Browns Collection ~ Light Golden Taupe #4, Dark Golden Brown #8, Dark Taupe #12, and Toffee #16. All went on silky smooth and were long wearing. I particularly liked #16 Toffee. I have so much golden undertones in my skin, that I normally select more neutral or cool shades to counteract the warmth. A 2-gram pot retails for $15. 

I also tried the Made You Blush {above center} in Mauve #11 which is more in my palette. At first I thought it would be a bit too  dark for my complexion but it gave my cheeks a healthy rosy glow. It stayed on all day without having to be re-applied. A 4-gram jar retails for $18.

Lastly, I tried the Bamboo Silk Finishing Primer. Made of Bamboo Silk and Kaolin Clay, the finishing powder can also be used under foundation or worn alone. It is designed to brighten, soothe and refine the skin's complexion. It makes a great finishing powder and helps set the makeup. A 4-gram pot retails for $20.
