Oberon Design Gifting Event

I've been patting myself on the back for discovering a gem of a company called Oberon Design and kicking myself for not finding them sooner. The Sassy Apple Review and Giveaway

Cattiva Cosmetics Review and Giveaway

We were contacted by Cattiva Cosmetics to see if we would be interested in trying their chic beauty products. They sent us their Belazza Blush/Bronzer Mineral Duo Refill and Square Crystal Compact.

Inspired by Italian romance, Cattiva is the first high fashion anti-aging cosmetics line in packaging that is covered in jewels. The products arrive in sleek black shiny boxes and were wrapped in black tissue and tied with a red ribbon.

I've never used a bronzer so had a lot of fun experimenting with this product which can be used either as an all over face color or for contouring. When I heard they were sending this, I wondered if the color would work for me. I first swirled a blush brush over both the blush and bronzer and lightly dusted it all over my face. I don't normally use a bronzer because I'm afraid of looking "fake" but could definitely use a drop of the sun-kissed look in the Fall and Winter. Cattiva's Belizza Blush/Bronzer added a natural healthy glow. I then tried just the blush and although it didn't appear to be "my color" in the compact, it complimented my skintone perfectly. The Blush/Bronzer Mineral Duo Refill is talc and paraben free and retails for $28.


The black plastic compact is encrusted with crystals on the top. and screams Hollywood! Ultra chic glamour girl style. The compact can be filled with any of the foundations, eye shadow quad or the blush/bronzer. The compact retails for $14. I'm very happy with both these products and can't wait to try all of Cattiva's line.

Murad Review

The folks at Murad sent us two products from their Age Reform Line to try. First was Hydro-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture for Eyes. This product is designed to give a more youthful appearance by increasing hydration around the eyes to smooth fine lines, firm and awaken the eye area.

It is a light, non-greasy consistency that has a cool, slightly tingling sensation. I probably used more than I needed, but it felt great and I do think it helped diminish the lines around my eyes. A .5 oz jar retails for $60.

Next was Intensive Resurfacing Peel made with Dr. Murad's latest beauty innovation, Durian Cell Reform, a blend of glycolic acid and durian, an Asian superfruit used to help prolong skin's youthful state and in this product's case, may even turn back time.

I received 4 treatments, each .17 oz tube contains just enough product for a single application. I have to admit I was a little hesitant to try this after reading the instructions which call for leaving the product on for 10 minutes and warned for sensitive skin, you may only be able to leave it on a few minutes because the product is intense. This was also my first experience using a peel and I have heard some horror stories from friends how their skin peeled for days and looked like snakeskin after using another brand's product.


Although I have sensitive skin, I was able to leave the product on for the full 10 minutes with the first application with absolutely no irritation. My skin felt smooth after using it, but I didn't see any significant improvement as far as my wrinkles. The second application also remained for 10 minutes and there was a noticeable difference in the lines around my eyes; they were definitely smoother and not as deep or pronounced. YAY! This is the first product I can recall seeing a marked improvement in just 2 applications. Paging Dr. Murad: Please report to our office with a lifetime supply! ☺ Seriously, the good doctor may have discovered an alternative to Botox and plastic surgery with his Intensive Resurfacing Peel. By the way, my skin did not peel at all! {This could be due to using the Clarisonic twice a day, there just isn't much dead skin left to slough away}. Souplantation & Sweet Tomatoes Gifting Event

Sweet Tomatoes in  Cary, NC is one of my favorite eateries. They have a huge buffet of fresh and scrumptious salads and soups. My friend, Debbie, and I go there every time we get together for lunch so I was delighted when the team at Sweet Tomatoes' Corporate said they wanted to be featured on Chic Luxuries. I had not tried Sweet Tomatoes Catering yet. They offer delicious fresh menu options perfect for luncheons, meetings, holiday parties, school events and more. Sweet Tomatoes graciously offered to cater a luncheon for 10 at my home.

Our menu included Caesar Salad, Traditional Spinach Salad, Southern Dill Potato Salad, Tangy Brocooli Salad, Tri-Color Rotini Salad, Shrimp Bisque, Baked Potatoes with Toppings, Chocolate Chip Cookies, and Muffins. WOW!

The food was fresh and delicious. My favorites were the Spinach Salad, Broccoli Salad and Caesar Salad. Everything is transported in insulated coolers lined with trays. Sweet Tomatoes will even do the set up for you if you wish. Tracy Marks from the Corporate Office and Maggy Bell, Catering Coordinator at Cary's Sweet Tomatoes, could not have been sweeter or more accommodating. I worked in catering for 10 years and planned many events, and although I'm not much of a cook, it takes a lot to impress me as far as presentation. Sweet Tomatoes covers every detail, provides quality catering and outstanding service at a very reasonable cost.
