For as long as I can remember I've been in awe of the talent and creativity of artists who specialize in more than one medium. Catherine Powers, creator of Inspired Home, is one of those individuals. I've known a few artists, a couple of candle makers, many writers, maybe even a poet, but I never met someone who is all of the above...until now. Catherine's talent appears limitless. Let me start by admitting I am VERY picky about candles. I've tried hundreds of different brands and have found very few with which I am thrilled. If there is a hint of a wax scent, if the fragrance doesn't permeate the room, if it doesn't burn evenly and cleanly or if I don't love the aroma, it will wind up in the "save for power outages" candle pile. Bel Mondo Beauty ~ Review and Giveaway

I am one LUCKY girl and so is a Chic Luxuries reader! The marvelous folks at Bel Mondo Beauty sent me their Bio Cellulose Masks to try and with just one look at the chic packaging and gift box, I knew I was in for a luxurious treat.

Juice Beauty's Stem Cellular Repair Eye Treatment ~ Review

I heard some chatter on twitter about Juice Beauty which piqued my curiosity. I had never tried their products but wanted to see for myself if what was being said was true, so I contacted them and they couldn't have been nicer. They graciously sent me their Stem Cellular Repair Eye Treatment to test.

The product claims to aggressively firm and eliminate dark circles and fine lines around the eyes. Those are mighty big words to live up to, I thought. I rub my eyes a lot because of allergies and consequently have had dark circles for years. Oh and the wrinkles...yep, lots of them! I couldn't wait to put this product to the test, I've used it twice daily for two weeks.  


Stem Cellular Repair Eye Treatment is loaded with antioxidant-rich fruit juices and plant oils to hydrate skin. I love that I can actually recognize the ingredient list of this all-natural product. The consistency is a light almost translucent cream that has no discernible scent and it quickly absorbed into my skin without being greasy or sticky. It DEFINITELY smoothed my wrinkles and made them less noticeable throughout the day. My dark circles also appear lighter since I began using it. Seriously good stuff!


Equally wonderful as the product is the unique applicator. One pump dispensed enough product for both eyes. The angled applicator ensures that the product is smoothed gently over the delicate eye area without applying too much pressure.

Sheer Cover Review

As I was leaving for a trip last week, this trial size Sheer Cover Makeover in a Box arrived. I was excited to try the products after seeing the infomercials and Leeza Gibbons' flawless skin so into the suitcase it went.

I have never used a primer. I like that the Sheer Cover primer keeps powder from settling into fine lines which can often accentuate them. Sheer Cover Base Perfector Primer includes Vitamin A, E, Green Tea, Cucumber and Marine Extracts.


I love that the Duo Concealer is just that ~ two concealers. So often concealers are either too light or too dark for my complexion. These concealers can be blended together for the perfect shade. I mixed Light and Medium and they did a good job of covering up my imperfections.

Miraclebody Jeans Review

My latest crush is Miraclebody jeans by the company who makes the Miraclesuit (the only swimsuit I would dare to be seen in). Like the swimsuit, Miraclebody jeans claim their jeans will make you look 10 lbs. lighter in 10 seconds...in fact, they guarantee it! I don't know about you, but I'm all about anything that will make me look thinner.

I was unsure as to what size to select because I typically order a larger size for the Miraclesuit than I normally wear. After measuring my waist and hips, I used their sizing chart as a guide to order. These jeans are super soft and comfortable, have a little bit of stretch to them, which I prefer in jeans, and fit perfectly! The Riverwash color is a lovely shade of blue and goes with just about every top in my closet.

The Samantha jeans sit midrise on the hips and I especially like that they are cut higher in the back. I'm also a big fan of the boot-cut style, these have just the right amount of flair. There is a fun and flirty embroidered wave design in a champagne color accented with tiny gray granite beads on the pockets; and the design is positioned on the back pocket to give the illusion of a slender backside.

I put these to the test and wore them to lunch with a friend I hadn't seen in a few weeks. I haven't lost any lbs. since the last time we were together. She said "You look great" although she says that all the time. I thought "hmmm, I guess I'm only imagining I look 10 lbs. lighter". As we were standing in line waiting for a table she asked "How much weight did you lose?". Yayaay!! We're now both referring to Miraclebody jeans as My happy jeans.

Next, I tested OH! MY GOODNESS Slap Happy Natural Anti-Aging Hand Cream with UV Protection. Another clever idea to put UV protection in hand products. This has a very light and pleasant scent, it quickly absorbed into my skin and was not greasy. I love that the line is all natural...the hand cream contains shea butter, vitamin E, aloe vera, and watermelon extract. Available in two sizes, 2-oz. for $6.50 and 8-oz. for $19.95 retail.

One of the newest additions to the Poo~Pourri line of bathroom sprays is Crap Shooter! Another cute label decorates this bottle, this one with a cowgirl and a silver boot charm hanging from a rope around the bottle's neck. These are some of the most creative products ever designed. Does Your Makeup Disappear During the Day?

If your makeup doesn't last through the work day, it could be because it is being applied too soon after moisturizing. Allow moisturizer to soak into skin for ten minutes before applying makeup. This way skin drinks in the moisturizer without absorbing the makeup.  


Also, if your skin doesn't quickly "drink in" moisturizers and you find the product is just "sitting" on the top layer of your skin, it's time to exfoliate. 


Be sure to clean all makeup brushes once a week in a mild handsoap or shampoo to keep skin clear.  Brushes that contain makeup and product buildup are not only a breeding ground for bacteria, but they can actually scratch skin. Makeup will also glide on easier with a clean brush. 

To clean brushes:

• Rinse in warm water with bristles pointing down
• Squirt a drop of mild soap in your palm and swish the brush around, rinse (with bristles pointing down) until water runs clear
• Lay flat to dry on paper towels, reshape if necessary

I'm using both products in the kitchen. The candle, which arrives in a beautiful gift box, burns evenly and softly scents the room. I especially like the handwash, it lathers well and does a good job at removing food odors. 

I will be ordering the Imagination fragrance and Disney's newest fragrance, Pixie Dust, set to launch this Fall. Victoria's Secret ~ Almost Free Luxuries

A few weeks ago I received two gift cards from Victoria's Secret.  One was for $10 off any purchase and the other for a free pair of panties. Victoria's Secret sends these gift cards periodically during the year to their customers. If you sign up for their mailing list and request a catalog, you should receive one around the holidays. They also send a $10 gift card to customers on their birthday each year. ♥


I've been wanting to try their Beauty Rush Lip Glosses.  I purchased "Taffy Go Lucky" and "Strawberry Fizz".  They are high-shine, non-sticky, and have a longer staying power than most lip glosses, and... they taste delicious!! Taffy Go Lucky tastes just like bubblegum! Every purchase comes in their signature glossy pink-striped gift bags with coordinating tissue...very chic! Beauty Rush Lip Glosses retail for $7 each or two for $14.  With my $10 gift card, I paid $2.14 for two lip glosses!!
